For the last four years we’ve been able to watch the fireworks from our deck, super convenient and nice. Invite friends over, have a bbq, watch the fireworks. Last year though the trees had grown so much that we could only see the top half of the fireworks show, so this year we went with friends to watch them. I can think of no better way to pass time than photographing people so that’s what I did while we waited for the show. It was so much fun. So fun.
Warning: photo techie talk. Probably close to a year ago I bought my 17-55 f/2.8. It’s an awesome lens, super sharp and my first zoom. It’s pretty much been on my camera 99% of the time since I bought it. Lately though I’ve been feeling like I’m stuck in a rut so I pulled out my dusty 50mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8 lenses and decided to practice shooting wide open. Shooting at f/1.4 can be kind of tricky, but the results are so incredibly beautiful.
