We’re Baaaaaaack!

What a total adventure it was, too!  I had it in my mind that it was going to be this amazing photography-filled vacation, but really I had my hands full a lot of the time, and then when I did have the chance to take advantage of the beauty of the coast - everyone was, well, camping.  Mismatched clothes, dirty faces, messy hair, and so…that’s what I captured.  Real life.   I even got my husband to take a few pictures of me, too.  I set them up, upped the aperture so that it was nearly impossible to miss focus and let him play.  He got an awesome shot of me with Maddie and I’m so excited.

Oh, and that family pic?  Well, we got one.  Did we get one with 12 eyeballs open and looking at the camera with no funny faces?  Nope.  But hey, we got one.  It’s a start.  Of the 200 or so shots that I did get, here are a few that I edited tonight.  Because patience has never been my strong suit and the minute the wee one fell asleep I hopped right on the laptop and started downloading!

M in the backpack - looks kind of goofy, and not exactly the silhouette pic I was dreaming of, but a beautiful sky nonetheless: coast-2008_080618_2009_blog.jpg

And the last one…for tonight:

A post with no pictures?

Or how about a post in preparation of a plethora of pictures soon to come?  That’s more like it.  We are about to leave on the annual DeCamp family camping trip to Patrick’s Point.   The hippie van (our 1993 VW Eurovan) is loaded to the brim and we’re taking off on Wednesday.  I’m really looking forward to it, but I know it’s going to be a real challenge camping with Madeline this year.  People thought we were crazy to try it last year, but now in retrospect I can see that camping with a 4-month old infant was a piece of cake as compared to camping with a 16-month old toddler!  She basically slept in the sling the entire time last time.  This time, although it will definitely be fun to watch her discover the ocean and play in the sand, I’m very happy our campsite is next to the showers!  Not to mention the fact that big brother Nico had a nasty accident last week resulting in 13 stitches so he’s pretty bummed out that walking in the ocean and climbing the huge sand cliffs are out.  But all in all it’s going to be one fun adventure.  Besides, camping is that one time a year we go nuts and fill the cooler full of sugar cereal and root beer (ok, the cereal isn’t in the cooler, but you get the point!) and stay up late telling ghost stories and playing Uno.  It’s a blast.

But photography-wise, I’m so excited to have one of the most gorgeous locations for a photo backdrop for four whole days!  I already have a bunch of ideas I can’t wait to try.   And all I asked for LAST YEAR for Mother’s Day was a family photo that we still don’t have, so this year?  I’m getting that family picture.

Me and my girl - a picture for Father’s Day

I had been wanting to take a picture of us together for a while now, but I’m not all that excited about being in front of the camera.  I decided today was the day, we would take a picture for papa for Father’s Day.  I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out.  She’s a total doll and I, well, I look like me.  At least you can all see my new haircut.

Another new look

So, along with a major haircut (over 9 inches cut off, eep!) I got a professional photography logo designed.  Candace at Simple Wish Studio (http://www.simplewishstudio.com/) was awesome to work with and patient with my many many revisions.   I’m excited about how it turned out - I’ve already started updating my webpage to reflect the brand new me.

I have a picture of the logo.  The haircut you’ll just have to imagine, at least for the time being.
