I don’t like it! When I finally get around to dusting off my camera I kick myself because I remember just how much I love it. Since my last blog post (which has been so long that I had to do a password recover to type this one) I’ve shot a wedding for my cousin, we took our annual coast trip, I took the annual pumpkin patch pictures, and I did my first client shoot in months! I haven’t been taking clients while I’ve been in school but this semester is slightly less challenging (or I’m just so sick of school I’m studying less. Maybe that.) so I took a client. I’m glad I did! I love this family - they are gorgeous, fun and full of personality!

Haven’t been feeling great and have one sick kiddo but I want to keep shooting so I tried to really pay attention to the light today and managed to get this one of Miss Clothing Optional. Seriously the girl will not stay dressed.

Didn’t shoot today, but edited a few more from yesterday. Looked at a few blogs from photographers that I admire, feeling really inspired now. Trying to link here but I think my version of Wordpress is so old I can’t (I’ll add updating to the long list of things that seem like good ideas but that I’ll never get around to actually doing.) But huge thanks to Christie Hobson, Lisa Lucky and Meg Bitton - three amazing photographers definitely worth checking out.

Took these at sunset while walking the dog (no, not our dog - we are dogsitting for grandma). The conditions pretty typical - July heat, Claire in the stroller, dog getting tripped up on stroller, Maddie alternating between enjoying modeling and being so ready to just go home and make ice cream. I’m determined to take pictures every day though. I’ve got to get better at this. So, day two on the road to me…

So first off, I am not a blogger. I’d lie and say that I try but it’s not true. I just don’t enjoy it. That’s how I’ve felt about my photography lately. Well, I guess I wouldn’t go as far as to say I don’t enjoy it because I always love photographing people, but lately I’ve just felt like I’m going through the motions. I feel like I’m taking the same picture over and over again. I want to rediscover who I am as a photographer. I don’t want to feel like I’m carrying around a mental checklist of what makes the perfect picture, instead I want to get lost in the moment. I have seven more weeks and then school starts again (or maybe it’s only 6 now, I’ve lost count) but I want to stop making excuses and start shooting again. I did that today. And it’s nothing earth-shattering. Not even close. But it’s a start. You’ve always got to start somewhere, and so I’m starting today. I’d like to say I’ll blog about it but I guess we all know how likely that is.

I just love babies. Remember my beautiful maternity session I did at the end of the summer? Well it’s no surprise that the baby is just as gorgeous. Totally adorable family. Thanks for working around my crazy schedule and letting me come snuggle with your new baby boy! And again older brother was such a good helper, I can already tell he’s going to be such a great big brother. Congratulations, R family!Here are a few of my favorites from the session:

Two more sessions to edit and then I’m caught up, and sad to say, done. Not forever, but I am not taking any more sessions while I’m in school. It makes me sad, because I love photography but I just don’t have the time that I used to and I don’t like feeling so behind on editing. So, I’m taking a short break. But until then I do have a few session sneak peeks to post - so here you go, A family. I’ve been taking pictures for them since their oldest was a baby, and although he was so not into having pictures taken, I still think we got some good ones!

I’m so behind in editing it isn’t even funny, but I had to post at least one from this morning. Then I’ll go back to editing in order, and studying boring things like pulmonary gas exchange. So exciting. Only a month and a half until first semester is over though. Yay! So here’s a quick one of sweet baby E. Only five days old.

I bought this dress for Maddie a few months ago and had the idea to bring her rocking chair to this field. Last weeked I let Kate borrow my D70 and so we got Maddie dressed and took her out for a photoshoot together. So much fun. The light was absolutely perfect and of course I couldn’t have asked for a better model. Haha! Actually, I’m really grateful that Maddie doesn’t suffer from PKS (photographer’s kid syndrome) and hopefully will always let me take pictures of her! One of these days I might actually get some printed for our house. Maybe…
