Welcome!

Welcome to the blog for Anne DeCamp Photography. You will find everything from random musings to special offers to session sneak peeks here. Over the course of the next year I will be offering new products and running various specials and blog contests so I hope you check back often!

I love this!

Almost every time I pull out the camera Maddie will want her picture taken - she was meant to be my child, obviously!  Well, instead of jumping into the picture that I was trying to take of Claire she went and grabbed my cell phone so she could take her own pictures.  It was so cute!

March Resolutions

I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions because I know that I’ll never keep them.  So, in February I got the bright idea to make March 1st resolutions instead.  First on the list was a 365 day photo project (I was hoping that forcing myself to come up with a creative image daily would push me artistically) except I forgot to take a picture at all on March 1st.  This is why I don’t make resolutions.

What I was going to attempt to do though is this:

1) 365-day photo project.  FAIL.  But I have been taking pictures a lot more often so maybe I’ll start this on April 1st.  Seems like a good April Fools Day plan.
2) Dairy free for a month.  This was going great until I was cleaning Madeline’s room and found a tootsie roll in her dance bag and popped it in my mouth without thinking.  Yep, milk.  Other than that though, so far so good.  I even got a cheeseless pizza for pizza movie night.  It was sad.  Actually, it wasn’t that bad.   I’m hoping that going dairy free will help poor Claire (and me.  I could really use a break from the crying.)
3) Blog more often.  So far so good on that.
4) Exercise.  I just threw that in there to sound good.  I  have been walking a couple of miles a week with my mom, but so far the couch to 5k is still parked on the couch.  Happily.

Here are a few pictures of Miss Fussypants, aka Claire.  I love her so much, I can’t believe she’s already three months old.

Babies babies babies!

I could spend every weekend photographing newborn babies, I just love it so much.  Snuggling them, getting peed on, watching them sleep.  Ahhhh, sweet newborn bliss.  Ok, maybe not the peepee part, but even that I don’t mind so much.  Congratulations Andrea and family on your perfect baby boy!

And a smile, ok a little one but a smile nonetheless!

Socks.

I took Crissy out today for a photo shoot and we had an absolute blast.  I’ve been feeling kind of down lately (lack of sleep, crying baby, insane post partum hormones?) and photography is my natural high.  Some people claim they get the same effect from exercise but I am just not one of those people.  At all.  I think they must be liars.  Or insane.  Anyway, I kept passing this abandoned building covered in graffiti - an old skateboarding shop - on my way to Madeline’s dance class and I’d been wanting to try it out as a location.  Crissy was awesome, willing to try anything, not dying of embarrassment as I took pictures while standing on the hood of the car.  It was so much fun.  I have no idea how to choose my favorites to post here.  I love them all.

Oh, and I promised her I’d title this blog post, “Socks.”  So I did.

Little Liam

Last weekend I had the opportunity to work with my friend and fellow photographer, Sarah Wilson (http://www.sarahelizabethportraits.com) on a newborn shoot.  It was really fun working together, and even more fun to see and compare our finished portraits.  Hopefully we get the chance to work together again - we have a few more newborn poses to try!  I’m really really loving these newborn sessions.

Are you or is anyone you know having a baby soon?   I’m running a special the next couple of months - if you book a newborn session with me you get a free maternity session and two free 5×7 prints from that session!

Sweet Sweet Baby

I’m starting to think that instead of a calming effect, I must have some alert vibes running off of me - Baby C was wide eyed most of the session, but you know what?  I’m really starting to like the wide awake pictures.  Newborn sessions are so much fun, I mean cuddling with a sweet, adorable, teeny-tiny baby, what could be better?  What an amazing job I have.

Claire Jolie

It’s a girl!!!

Claire Jolie was born on November 30th at 2:58pm.  7 pounds, 9 ounces, 20 inches long.  I had it in my mind for months that once she was here I was going to get a million newborn pictures of her, all of the curled up sleepy poses that I had in mind…well, she didn’t.  She’s already got photographer’s kid syndrome.  I pull out the camera and she goes from calm and content to screaming.  So, at 12 days old, I gave up on the sleepy curled up newborn shots and followed her lead.  I am thrilled with what I got.  She’s gorgeous and I can’t wait to share her with you.

Maternity Photo Swap

My friend Sarah and I are super excited that we’re due within just a few weeks of each other and have been planning to do each others maternity pics since we first found out we were pregnant.  I can’t believe it’s already time!  Sarah is due at the end of the month so we did hers first - and we’re doing mine next weekend.  So exciting, although I can already tell you that I much prefer being the photographer, I am so stiff and awkward in front of the camera.  But, anyway, we had so much fun driving around trying out different locations and poses.  Thanks for letting me take your pictures, Sarah!

Just so happy

I’m so happy to be shooting so much again. Especially since I know my time is running out (well, at least for a little while - then watch out for the plethora of newborn pictures that will inevitably show up on this blog.) What’s even more exciting to me is when I sit there editing after a session thinking every photograph that I open is my new favorite. I really love my job!

I hope you love these, B family. I’m glad I finally got a chance to take pictures for you!

So much to post and yet so little to say.

I always thought that I would be a great blogger, I love to write, I even keep a journal and yet - I think about posting to my blog and I get writer’s block.  I don’t know if it’s like stage fright or what, but I need to get over it and post more often!

This summer I took two trips to San Francisco - an attempted maternity shoot and then a newborn shoot.  I had my daughter with me both times which was super challenging.  I also got to spend a weekend at a lovely house in the country and took some pictures out there and then this past weekend had a family shoot with 5 kids!  Now that Fall is finally here and we can venture outside without frying and before I get hugely pregnant (probably too late for that) I can’t wait to get back out there taking pictures.

Here are some new pictures and a sneak peek for you Mara and Ashley - I will have your gallery up by the end of the week.
